Benefits

A CSCS accreditation means Portcullis is on the Scheme’s database, of those working in construction who have or are committed to achieving, a recognised construction related qualification. Our employees hold CSCS card to verify their identity and show our customers they have the required qualifications, training and experience to carry out the installations and maintenance.

Through CSCS, our employees are recognised for their quality and skill so all the work they carry out will be to an incredibly high standard.  We are committed to the CSCS cause of creating a standardised way of to assure workers on sites are properly trained to fulfil their duties, and combat the activities of fraudsters, to safeguard customers and safety on construction sites.

How They Got Started

CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) is a not-for-profit limited company and the leading certification card scheme for construction.  It was established in 1995, the Scheme has continued to develop and there are now over 2 million cards displaying the CSCS logo.

Its directors are from employer organisations and unions representing the breadth of the industry. By holding a CSCS card it provides proof that individuals, working on construction sites, have the appropriate training and qualifications for the job they do.

Their Vision

CSCS’s mission is to improve standards and safety on UK construction sites, by ensuring that all the workforce is appropriately qualified to do their job and hold a CSCS card as standard practice. CSCS cards are becoming the only work-related cards site workers need to carry. CSCS smartcards are used for many purposes beyond checking and storing site worker’s identification and qualifications, including access control and recording on-site training sessions.

More about CSCS

Holding a CSCS card is not a legislative requirement, it’s up to the principal contractor or client whether workers are required to hold a card before they are allowed on site. Most principal contractors and major house builders now require construction workers on their sites to hold a valid CSCS card.

The Scheme’s application processing and the contact centre are delivered under contract by CITB (Construction Industry Training Board).
