Port Of London Authority

Portcullis Gate Automation carry out pre-planned preventive gate maintenance in Gravesend at the Port of London Authority.

The tender consists of five commercial gates, three being vehicle gates and two pedestrian gates, with the gate maintenance being carried out on a six monthly basis.

Port of London Authority Gate Installation

As a part of our service for the Port of London Authority we installed a commercial electric gate to the jetty entrance of the dockyard.

Due to the width of the entrance being approximately nine metres across installing one large sliding electric gate was simply not an option as it would have taken too long to open and also required an extra fifteen meters width to one side to accommodate the gate in the fully open position.

A decision was made to install a pair of bi-parting electric sliding gates automated with two BFT Ares 1000 motors to power the gates. The BFT Ares 1000 motor meets the new health and safety recommendations.

Portcullis Gate Automation completed the contract in approximately four working days with the Port of London Authority assisting by laying the re-inforced concrete foundations; one of many projects where Portcullis Gate Automation work in partnership with the client.
